Starting in the year 2000 a few of us WSU Cougs from the 60s started doing an annual WAZZU guys’ trip. This year we expanded to seven participants and chose to meet in Sunriver, getting four nights for the price of two and 10% off for the PAC/Am discount. With such a deal how could we not choose Sunriver!
The late September dates supplied wonderful weather for our activities of hiking at Paulina Peak and Benham Falls, playing Frisbee golf and tennis, bike riding and walking around Sunriver. Renting a beautiful house, allowed the seven of us to comfortably enjoy card playing, football watching, barbequing, hot tubbing and visiting.
A great time was had by all. Go Cougs!

Our “Girl’s Get-away” started back in the 80’s, but we have settled on Sunriver since 2000, and now the same house, same dates each year. It’s me, my 4 daughters and one daughter-in-law, and of course our bear mascot, Bubba. It’s the sunshine on the deck, the deer, chats by the fireplace, the hot tub, the champagne, the games for prizes, dancing bears, and home-made cinnamon rolls. It’s the long walks, Century Drive, shopping, Bubba’s UofO shirts, the carriage ride, the Spa treatments and movies. It’s all about family and relaxing. We have a scrapbook full of wonderful memories and plan to continue for many more years in Sunriver.

Having lived in Sunriver for 6 years I never really appreciated the beauty of my hometown. My children and I decided to go into the Sunriver Village Mall and enjoy some great old fashioned ice cream and handmade chocolates. As we were dripping around the mall I couldn’t help but over hear people talking about our beautiful weather, the many miles of bike paths, how green the trees were and how blue the sky. One woman from Alaska exclaimed “your sky is so big here!” I started to look around and not one minute later I saw a doe with two baby fawns walking in front of one of the vacation rental homes. For just one minute I was able to forget work, find joy in my childrens smiles, take a deep breath and relax. What a great memory this will make.
